WDTM ("What Does That Mean?") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome Extension and associated website (wdtm.site).
Your Inputs
When you highlight text and ask WDTM to explain it.
WDTM explains only the selected passage and uses context only to understand meaning.
When you right-click or send an image for explanation.
WDTM uses the image and nearby context to explain what the visual means.
When you ask WDTM to summarize a readable web page.
WDTM filters common page clutter and sends only the content needed for the brief.
Authentication Information: We collect your email address and secure authentication tokens via Supabase to manage your account, track your usage limits (Free vs. Pro), and sync your preferences across devices.
Website Content: When you explicitly highlight text and select "Explain with WDTM," that specific snippet of text is sent to our secure API to generate an explanation.
Technical Data: We may collect basic, non-identifying technical information (such as browser version and extension version) to ensure the extension functions correctly and to help us debug issues.
• To provide the core service: generating AI explanations for the content you choose.
• To manage your subscription status ($5 Pro plan).
• We do not use your selected text, images, or webpage content to train AI models.
• Your selected text, images, and webpage content are not saved in our database.
• To communicate with you regarding your account or support requests.
No Data Selling: We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data to third parties.
Explanation Content: Selected text, images, and webpage content are processed transiently to generate your explanation and are not stored in WDTM's database.
Account & Usage Records: WDTM stores account information and usage counters required to operate Free and Pro plans, such as authentication, plan status, request counts, token usage, and image explanation usage.
Security: We use industry-standard encryption (SSL/TLS) for all data transmissions between the extension and our servers.
WDTM utilizes trusted third-party providers to function:
Supabase: For secure user authentication and database management.
Groq: To process selected text, images, and webpage content and generate explanations.
Stripe: To securely process payments for the Pro plan.
You can stop all collection of information by the extension by uninstalling it at any time. You can also manage your account details via the WDTM web dashboard.
